Savvy Travelers

Mission and General Information

Savvy Travelers is a church group whose mission is to provide trips for seniors and other adults in the church and neighboring communities to interesting, informative and entertaining venues.  Most of the trips are day trips in the San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles County areas, but longer trips (weekends and longer) have been planned in the past and will be included in the future.

Typical venues for the trips include churches, theaters, museums, harbor cruises, city tours and numerous others.  Trips normally include a meal, usually a group lunch or dinner at the venue or at a nearby restaurant.

Our day trips are normally "all-inclusive" for the cost of the trip.  This means that the quoted price each participant pays will include admission to the venue, the lunch or dinner, the cost of the transportation, all docent or guide fees, as well as all tips, gratuities and taxes.  This sets Savvy Travelers' trips apart from many other church or commercial tours, where the quoted prices often do not include the meals, etc.

Savvy Travelers Board - New Team Members Invited!

The Savvy Travelers Board is a team of 20+ people who select, organize and manage the day trips and who also can be involved in planning longer church-related trips, including some overseas trips to places such as the Holy Land.  We are always seeking new Board members.  If you enjoy traveling and would like to work in a team creating trips, we invite you to consider joining the Board.  You can talk to any Board member at the Savvy Travelers table each Sunday morning on the church patio between services, or phone the church at (858) 487-0811, ext. 300 for the Savvy Travelers message center, or email Savvy Travelers at .

2012 Trips

Savvy Travelers runs ten one-day trips during each year, one each month except in January and either July or August.  The majority are on weekdays, but some are scheduled for Saturdays.  Trip prices are determined based on factors including venue admission fees, meal costs and type of bus used, and are normally set at the time that each trip is finalized and opened for sign-ups.  Please visit the Savvy Travelers' Sunday table in the church patio for price information.

Information and Sign-up for Trips

Information about these trips and sign-up for the next several upcoming trips are available at the Savvy Travelers' table which is on the church patio at 9:00-9:30 a.m. and 11:00-11:30 a.m. on most Sundays during the year.  The board members who staff the tables each Sunday can answer questions and will have handouts of information for upcoming trips.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please be aware that merely signing up for a trip does NOT insure a reservation for that trip.  Signing up only indicates your interest in that trip.  Actual reservations are made only by your payment of the trip fee.
