nominating committee

“May the God of peace equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him through Jesus Christ.” Hebrews 13:20-21

Your Nominating Committee is in the process of seeking church members for consideration as Elders and Deacons to serve for the 2011-2013 term. Your suggestions are extremely important in the candidate selection process. We encourage you to forward any recommendations that you may have. The Church Constitution and Bylaws require that potential candidates for church offices meet the following criteria:

1. A member in good standing, known to be a dedicated, loyal and faithful Christian.

2. A member known for his/her willingness to accept leadership responsibilities as an Elder or Deacon, and who can devote their time and talents to support essential church functions.

What do Elders and Deacons do?

An Elder is a spiritual leader who helps discern God’s direction for the church and supports staff as they implement the church’s ministries.  Elders make it a priority to be a disciple of Jesus and to disciple others.  An Elder is also an administrator with the gift of leadership, one who serves the church as a member of Session by assisting with strategic planning and decision-making, to carry out the vision of God’s plan.  Elders might serve as committee chairs, ministry helpers and liaisons to team leaders, staff and congregation under the direction of RBCPC pastors.  Elders participate in a variety of teams, such as Administration/Finance, Human Resources, Nominating Committee, Worship, Congregational Care and Mission Committees as active members and leaders.

A Deacon is a spiritual leader with the gift of compassion who serves the church and community with a vision of God’s plan. Deacons serve by assisting with ministries that meet the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation and community. Deacons help provide for the ill and those in need, oversees the flower ministry, communion preparation and clean up, assist with mission outreach, and partner with congregational care ministries to bless our community.

“As followers of Jesus, we can trust Him regardless of our circumstances, and we can freely ask Him to give us wisdom in all things, including our leadership roles.” Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges in “Lead Like Jesus”.
