Kelly Kosky - People in Missions

Latest Update from South Africa:

Kelly Kosky, our missionary in Willowdale, South Africa recently was run over by a truck while riding his bicycle. They had to amputate the right leg, mid thigh. The good news is that a recent skin graft was successful. He has left hospital and returned to Willowdale to begin rehabilitation.

His rehabilitation and return to full activity will most likely take the remainder of 2010. Kelly will start with a 'loaner prosthesis' until he can afford the kind he wants. (A top of the line prosthesis can cost as much as $50,000)

Kelly's is upbeat and his wish is to continue resuming oversight of his ministry immediately.

November 09 Update from the "bottom of the world."

AIDS turns into TB:  With an estimated HIV/AIDS infection rae of 50%, our facility in Khayelisha is currently serving approximately 6000 per month, and is at its maximum capacity.  We are praying about how we can expand our current facility or establish additional facilities in the townships (ghettos.)  In addition, we are partnering with a TB ministry that will focus on caring for those with TB, as this is the biggest killer in Africa with AIDS.  Whether it is sharing our food, home, or ministry, we believe there is always "Room for one more."  We put no limit on God.  Please pray that we can do more to ministrer to those who are hurting and hopeless.

School of Prayer: We have recently started a school of prayer.  No we don't teach people how to pray, but rather how to live a life of prayer.  A typical school of prayer would last a week and go 24/7, with non-stop prayer.  We sincerely believe that the most powerful think we can do is pray.  Knowing the Word and serving the Lord are greatly needed, but without prayer we are powerless.  Prayer is the most important part of any ministry.  We can do nothing without sincere concerted prayer.

The US Ambassador to South Africa has contacted Kelly and asked if she could come to the mission for a few days and see what can be done in the remote areas of Africa.  The US State Department is working out the details for her visit.  Hopefully in our next newsletter, we will be able to share what develops as a result of her visit.
