About the Concert Series
The Concert Series of RBCPC was established by the Traditional Music Ministry as a concert, drama and entertainment outreach to the entire community. Each concert brings an exciting (and not always Traditional) form of entertainment. The program content for each year's schedule of events is established by a music committee chaired by Dr. Christopher Cook, the Director of Worship, Music and the Arts and the Organist for RBCPC.
The quality and variety of the program is a reflection of the multi-generational composition of the congregation of RBCPC.
The budget for the Music Series schedule of programs is funded in two ways. A group of valued contributors donate funds each year for the Concert Series and through voluntary donations received from our audience.
Jack Mitchell Music Scholarship Goes to Adrian Holtz
Congratulations to RBCPC youth musician Adrian Holtz for winning the 2016 Jack Mitchell Memorial Music Scholarship. The son of two of our talented musicians, Beverly and Paul Holtz, Adrian is headed for more music study at UCLA this fall, where he will continue preparing for a career in string bass performance. He has been part of music at RBCPC since his days in the Children’s Choir, and has since branched out into instrumental worship with the middle school, high school, and contemporary worship bands. In fact, he first got his hands on a double bass here at church! He has touched the hearts of many church members with his solos and participation in the Sanctuary Orchestra. His contributions don’t stop there: he and his folks have traveled to Mongolia to lead worship with Christian leaders in Asia. He is a member of the San Diego Youth Symphony that recently appeared on the RBCPC concert series. Congratulations to Adrian and all our prayers for the blessings ahead!
The concert series steering committee is charged with administering the Jack Mitchell Memorial Music Scholarship, which is given each year to a deserving student who is planning to major or minor in music at the college level. Contributions to the Scholarship Fund are welcomed any time. For more information or to make a donation, contact Dr. Christopher Cook, .
Jack Mitchell Memorial Scholarships
Each year in September, the Concert Committee awards a scholarship to young musicians pursuing a music education beyond high school. The scholarship honors the memory of Jack Mitchell who was the founder of the RBCPC Concert Series. Jack had a special interest in encouraging young musicians. Applications are due in the preceding May. For more information or for a scholarship application, please contact Dr. Christopher Cook, .
