Christopher Cook

Dr. Christopher Cook, Director of Traditional Music and Worship, is responsible for planning worship for the many people who find in the Christian worship traditions their most meaningful way of connecting with God. He is a recent graduate of the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, in JackonsvilleFlorida, the leading worship studies school in the nation. The area of his doctoral research was in Aesthetic Theology, where he had the opportunity to examine how the arts support and enhance the transformative Christian message in the church’s weekly worship.

In addition to serving as organist, he oversees RBCPC’s Traditional Music Ministry consisting of a sixty-voice Chancel Choir, a Sanctuary Orchestra, five vocal ensembles, several instrumental ensembles, and many vocal and instrumental soloists. He is also chairman of the church’s significant Community Concert Series.

As Organist, he has a wide range of experience as a recitalist and hymn festival leader. He has served as a trustee of the Spreckels Organ Society and coordinator of their Youth Concerts for more than ten years. As a member of the American Guild of Organists, he serves as chairman of the National Committee for Professional Career Development and Support. He is also a noted teacher of organ and music theory. His students fill many positions in the San Diego area and across the country.
