Buckheart Ranch Ministries

Our mission is carried out by using the talents and life experiences of mentors to influence and train youth to be successful physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We do this by teaching life skills through education and hands-on work at the Ranch.

Our mentoring curriculum involves a variety of programs. Our vocational tract teaches abilities youth can use in future career choices. Some of these skills include screen printing, gardening, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, food service, and maintenance. We emphasize the importance of Christian faith, based on the Bible. In all of these activities we provide an environment of trust and respect, where young people can share their dreams, struggles, and goals.

We instill self worth and self esteem to the young person. We reach out to the family as well, in hopes of breaking abusive cycles and destructive behaviors.

As one of the missions of RBCPC, Buckheart Ranch serves to influence and train “at risk” youth in an effort to equip them to lead productive lives.

Beginning last year, the ranch began a food ministry to assist needy families living near the ranch in San Pasqual Valley. T he youth at the  ranch do much of the work in this ministry which takes place every Friday afternoon. The ranch’s truck is driven to San Marcos to pick up food at the area’s Food Bank, then to Albertsons in Rancho Bernardo where milk, eggs and bread are purchased at a nominal cost.  When the truck returns to the ranch, it takes several hours to sort the food and display it on tables.  At 3:00 PM, about 35 families who are being supported by this program, begin arriving to take the food they need at no cost to them.

Buckheart Ranch can always use help in this ministry. Perhaps a Small Group would like to support it once a month.  For more information, call Stan Madsen at (858) 487-9791.
