Showing Christ's Love

I am so honored to be part of the RBCPC community who continually show the love of Christ through our Outreach Ministry, to folks we don’t know and will probably never meet. Each month you provide an outpouring of giving through our monthly drive thru events. June was no exception! The collection of shoes for Nova Ukraine is a perfect example. I set the bar at 250 pairs (clearly too low), and we collected 944 pairs of shoes. Some shoes will be purchased by Funds2Orgs to be distributed in third world countries and the funds will go to Nova Ukraine to buy medical supplies for refugees in Poland and Ukraine. New and barely used shoes are being sold online in America to generate additional funds for medical supplies. THANK YOU to those in our congregation who donated, helped to collect from friends and neighbors, and to our local community members who participated as well. Special thanks to Bernardo Heights Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School PE teachers who cleaned out lockers at the end of the school year and donated shoes to our cause.

Special SHOUT OUT to those who helped during our Day of Service cleaning out cupboards in the Chapel, polishing stones in the memorial garden, hauling light bulbs to recycling, organizing and clearing out toys in the childcare rooms, and moving boxes from the old finance office to the new. Also, a huge THANK YOU to church family and friends at Silvergate for making 200 sack lunches and to Vickie Bakki and her PEO chapter for providing and packing 100 sack lunches for clients at Interfaith Community Services. The June grocery collection helped to stock the food pantry run by New Day Urban Ministries serving clients in the downtown area.

July offers an opportunity for our congregation to provide backpacks, school supplies, and new clothing for 85 foster children and 35 elementary children who attend BLAST, a Christian based after school program at Los Pen Elementary School. Items can be dropped off during the month in the Welcome Center or at the drive thru on Saturday, July 16 from 9-11 in the upper parking lot. Thank you to the Deacons who are helping with this project as well. The holiday did not draw away from the amount of groceries collected on July 2nd for our Poway based food pantry, “4Community Care”. A carload of groceries was delivered to the pantry on Sunday stacking four tables with donations.

This month we are highlighting WALINDWA, our supported mission in Kenya. We are fortunate to have the founding missionary, Jill Weller as part of our congregation. Please plan on visiting with Jill on the courtyard on July 10 and July 24 to learn more about how Walindwa and your mission dollars are impacting the lives of children in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya.
