Arabic Speaking Ministry

The Community Presbyterian Church for Arabic-speaking people at Rancho Bernardo started in November 1996 and has grown steadily to a modest, energetic membership.

Its ministry covers all of San Diego county, with members coming from as far as El Cajon and Hemet. Some members drive more than one hour on Sundays to worship in this place of welcome and friendship.

The church's mission priority is evangelism to the Arabic-speaking people of San Diego County, with activities including visitation, outreach, the distribution of the Jesus Video, the Arabic New Testament, and Arabic tracts. The church's activities continue to grow to meet the needs of the Arabic community and as resources allow.

In addition to the core spiritual ministry, the church is involved with social ministry commitments with a:

(1) Humanitarian Aid Committee (Middle Eastern Relief) which focuses on establishing small business for the poor in the Middle East,
(2) A committee for helping the newcomers get started and acquainted with the American culture,
(3) A Recreational committee which attends to particular needs through audio, videos, books, Arabic language classes, and maintaining contact with other Arabic speaking congregations.

The church is also concerned about the Islamic movement among the English-speaking people in San Diego county, and is establishing a Community Resource Center which will focus on evangelism and apologetics. This Center will be the first of its kind in San Diego County.

Programs

Youth Group

We meet every Saturday at 7 pm, spend a few minutes greeting one another, then we start our worship time led by one of the youth. Then another one shares something from life, or from the Bible so that we can learn from other's experiences and then we spend time praying before the service. After the service, we celebrate birthdays, and sometimes we have dinner outside in some places we like.

For the services, our focus for this period is on: ( HOW TO SAY NO), to our sinful nature, and to the devil, through stories about God's people in the Bible who could say "NO", and what was God's reward for them.

Next period we will focus on ( THE MOST IMPORTANT CHOICES IN LIFE), and how we can make right choices for our lives.

We pray that every time we gather around our Lord Jesus, it will be for our growth.

Women's Ministry

We meet on the first and the third Mondays of the month, at 7 pm. We enjoy worshipping together and having Bible study.

As part of the community, we need to be Light of the world, so we help with the outreach group that distributes Bibles and other Christian materials to the Arabs who live near by us, so that they may know our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

We also help with fund raising for the poor in many ways; one of them is making food to be sold on different occasions, like Christmas fairs, etc. And the money goes to the needy in our community.

Prayer Meeting

"Pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective". (James 5:16).

Righteous men like to pray and talk to their heavenly father; Elijah was a man just like us, and he prayed earnestly (James 5:17), Daniel also pleaded with the Lord in prayer (Daniel 9:3), Jesus himself knelt down and prayed earnestly, and he ordered his disciples, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

We need to pray these days more than anytime before, so let’s come with all our anxiousness, our burdens, and lay it all on him, he surely will listen, care, and answer our prayers.

Preaching the Gospel

“Then Jesus came to them and said,” All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Mathew 28:18-20).

This is the last command Jesus asked his disciples to do before going to heaven, so it is a precious one.

Paul also said in (Romans 10:14-15): “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

So an obligation is laid on us and woe to us if we do not proclaim the gospel.

Our heart is to distribute Bibles and Christian materials to those who are thirsty for the living water, and have had no chance to get to know him. We focus mainly on the Arab Speaking people.
